After approving lower rates and longer times, Beaufort City Council has scheduled a special meeting to try and put the downtown parking saga to bed — and will then chew another mouthful as it looks for a way it can pave the way for a $4.6 million Olive Garden project.
I know, you're thing: That's it?
The meeting will be Tuesday, January 18, at 5 p.m. at City Hall (1911 Boundary Street.)
Look for council to move to take the parking kiosks off Bay Street and then see if it can get restaurant company Darden to move a proposed Olive Garden closer than 30 feet from Boundary Street.
Also on the agenda is "Discussion regarding Ordinance Rezoning a Parcel of Property Located at 500 Wilmington Street, from General Residential District to Office Commercial District."
