First reporting: Kyle Peterson of the Island Packet is tracking an interesting story coming out of Jacksonville involving Alvin Brown, a former resident of Beaufort, and his race to become the next mayor of the city.
Despite his recent endorsement from the Times-Union, the Democratic candidate who has spent time working for both President Clinton and Vice President Gore, is believed to be trailing slightly going into a runoff election with Mike Hogan, the county's incumbent tax collector.
Stay tuned for updates on this story as it develops.
