He's opened for Band of Horses, Mark Kozelek, and many others, and now Brian Wheat will be sharing his sophmore album Looking Alive to eye Level Art on Thursday June 14th at 8 p.m.
Forensic science teacher by day, Wheat's search for deeper context in life, relationships, and even objects began in his childhood which was spent in rural western New York. Now Wheat shares "I'm always on the search for quality and connection."
His first record Where Have You Been debuted in 2007, with fantastic reviews from local press and critics in his native Buffalo, N.Y. area. The NPR-affiliate WBFO gave him a Top Ten of the Year accolade as well as being named Solo Artist of the Year by Buffalo Spree.
Presenting a well balanced acoustic performance with thought evoking lyrics blended with ardent musical foundations, Wheat's work and fervent notion for exploration of connections shines with every note. Wheat also played the world famous SXSW Festival in March 2011, and is signed with Half Little Hold Records.
Wheat is also the brother of local fashion designer Julie Wheat of Cavortress.
Eye Level Art is located at 103 Spring St., and the show begins at 8 p.m. with local James Island resident Ryan Bonner and the Dearly Beloved opening the evening.
