After holding their third installment, the group behind Pecha Kucha Night Charleston is looking to grow and looking to make sure they grow Pecha Kucha right.
Read more stories on this subject in our pecha kucha topic page.To that effect, they've put up a post saying they're looking to raise $3,500 by June 26, and they've put up a survey that asks questions like "What about the event worked for you?"
But, what, you ask, is the cash for? -- Well, here's what they say:
Our organization, The Creative Industries Cluster known as Parliament (also the group that brings you Pecha Kucha Night Charleston), has been discussing the importance of an economic impact study and strategy for the Charleston region since we first gathered together a year and a half ago.
This strategy would help us to quantify and justify the creative economy as an economic driver as well as provide strategies and infrastructure to secure the successful future for all eight categories in the cluster: Performing and Visual Arts, Preservation and Restoration, Cultural Heritage, Architecture and Urban Design, Culinary Arts, Literary Arts and Publishing, Film & Video Arts .
Who is Parliament? They say it "consists of business owners, entrepreneurs, free agents, anyone committed to helping the Charleston region realize its full potential as a creative community."
