Update September 20: The Post and Courier snapped some very cool shots from this past weekend's Charleston Scottish Games and Highland Gathering at Boone Hall Plantation.
Athleticism, musicians, tradition and pride were out in full force for the event. Take a look through the photo gallery to see what you might have missed.
First reporting: Grab your clan, put on your kilt and head out to Boone Hall Plantation this Saturday, September 17th, for the 40th Annual Charleston Scottish Games and Highland Gathering.
Last year, over 6,000 people from all over the world attended these games, put on for charity that benefits the Scottish Society Of Charleston.
This year, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the grounds of Boone Hall plantation will come alive with music, piping and drumming competitions, athletics, dancing, Border Collie demonstrations, traditional cooking, children's activities, raffles and more.
The highlight of the event is most certainly the Scottish heavy athletics. Professional and amateur athletes from across the Southeast will be competing in the sheaf toss, the stone of strength and the caber toss.
The Charleston City Paper has a great video from last year's Scottish Games and Highland Gathering; watch it here.
Boone Hall Plantation is located at 1235 Long Point Road in Mount Pleasant.
