With three deaths recorded this year, the West Nile virus has claimed the most lives ever recorded in the state of South Carolina.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control stated that Aiken County, with eight cases, has had the highest number so far. Richland County has recorded four cases.

So far two people have tested positive for West Nile in Charleston County and one in Berkeley County, as of October 10.
