The Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation has been giving a sincere effort to attracting businesses and jobs to our area. They have been using both public and private dollars to accomplish their goals but leave no questions in where that money has gone.
The Sun News lays it all out here. Of course, the downside to such transparency is being judged for your expenditures. Public tax payers that do not understand the business or laws of recruitment and marketing won't realize that the EDC is actually doing quite a bit with the small amount of money it has to work with. Something worth mentioning is the EDC does spend locally when possible. The promotional model airplanes for iTAP where done by Myrtle Beach based Collins + Company. For more details and a breakdown of the EDC finances, give The Sun News write-up a read.
